 I Am Not Different

I am not different.
I am the same as you

Two eyes, two ears, a mouth & nose
Two hands with which to touch
Two feet to travel time & space
One heart for love of life
One soul held in grace

I am mankind
With opposable thumb and mega-giga-mind
A passionate heart
A determined soul
Dream inspired from the start

I am the seed of alpha
With sinful abandon sown
Conceived through lust
Into love born

I am a descendant
Of hunters and gathers, of warrior kings
Of holy mothers and ancient patriarchs
Of tormented souls and stunning genius
Of demons and saints
Of ignoble deeds and noble desires
Of master craftsmen and inspired artists
Of thinkers, architects and anarchists

We are bound
By double helix and our humanity
Yet our passions and dreams are unique
Be they purpose, karma or destiny

I am not different
I am the same as you

I am one yet many
Embrace our diversity
For life’s secrets lie within

I am not different
I am the same as you

Ominous Grey Clouds
Earth Slumbers Beneath White Snows
Cherry Blossoms Wait

Irises Spring forth
Luminous dewy purple
Mother’s Love abounds

Leopard becomes Hawk

Immoral War waged for Peace

Five years; Spots Remain

Snow gone tulips breathe

Sun warms my bones and my soul

Early Spring for sure

Japanese poetry form.

Many themes include nature, feelings, or experiences.   The most common form for Haiku is three short lines.  The first line usually contains five (5) syllables, the second line seven (7) syllables, and the third line contains five (5) syllables.

Haiku doesn't rhyme. A Haiku must "paint" a mental image in the reader's mind. This is the challenge of Haiku - to put the poem's meaning and imagery in the reader's mind in ONLY 17 syllables over just three (3) lines of poetry!

 Snow

Snow falls, floats, flurries

From endless grey skies

Snow piles

Snow drifts upon a frozen earth

Snow upon snow, upon snow, upon ice

Ice upon snow, upon ice, upon snow

Upon ice

Upon snow

Snow compressing daylight;

Expanding darkness

More snow upon snow

Near frost bitten fingers

Hastily fumble Christmas lites

Feeble daylight replacements

Snow upon snow

Snow upon ice upon lites

Snow wrapped lites, mind-numbing cold

Deadly wind chills foretold

Blowing, drifting, shoveling, plowing snow

Drifting snow, upon snow

Upon snow, upon snow

Snow, snow

More snow

Snow flurries

Snowstorm

Blizzard warnings

Snow upon snow

Snow flurry, floating, falling snow
